The description of the novel dinosaur species made past times researchers at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) together with the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) was published inwards the latest edition of the scientific magazine
Biology Letters.

The master copy characteristic of the newly identified species is its long neck, which stretched for 3.5 metres (almost 12 feet).
That characteristic places the "Macrocollum itaquii" inwards the same grouping of sauropodomorph dinosaurs that too includes Brachiosaurus together with Apatosaurus.
